Carbon County is gearing up two projects - replace the HVAC system at the animal shelter; and redo the bathrooms at Mauch Chunk Lake Park boat launch B.

Last week, the commissioners opened bids via PennBid for the two projects.

A total of six bids were received for the HVAC system replacement project at the shelter.

Shannon A. Smith Inc. of Myerstown submitted the low bid of $202,000. Other bids ranged between $220,000 and $308,082.

With regards to the Mauch Chunk Lake Park project, only two bids were received.

Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction Inc. of Tamaqua submitted the low bid for the restroom work and lot paving. They bid $383,547.25.

Carbon County received approximately $155,000 toward the project through a state grant.

The board then voted to table all bids for two weeks so they can be reviewed. The projects will either be awarded or all bids rejected at the April 27 commissioners meeting.
