PSP seize $16M in drugs in 1st quarter
Pennsylvania State Police seized approximately $16 million in cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin, fentanyl, marijuana and other prohibited drugs across the state during the first quarter of 2023, according to a report released this week by the department.
Police said between Jan. 1 and March 31 officers seized 229 pounds of cocaine, 129 pounds of methamphetamines, 24 pounds of fentanyl, seven pounds of heroin, 1,562 pounds of processed marijuana and 65,570 pills of assorted narcotics.
Officers also collected 1,307 pounds of prescription medication in the quarter as part of a prescription takeback program. Sixty-five state police stations offer boxes for disposing of unused or unwanted medications 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The statistical report of drugs confiscated for the three-month period is as follows:
Cocaine - 229.81 pounds, estimated valued of $5,055,820.
Crack cocaine - 5.84 pounds, estimated value of $93,440.
Heroin - 7.75 pounds, estimated value of $263,500.
Fentanyl - 24.57 pounds, estimated value of $393,120.
LSD - Pills and Paper: 24 doses, estimated value of $480.
Marijuana THC - Liquid: 72 pints, estimated value of $482,400.
Marijuana THC - Solid: 398.7 pounds, estimated value of $1,993,500.
Marijuana plants - 178 plants, estimated value of $29,370.
Processed marijuana - 1,562.66 pounds, estimated value of $4,687,980.
Methamphetamines - 129.5 pounds, estimated value of $1,295,000.
MDMA-Ecstasy - .044 pounds, estimated value of $145.
MDMA-Pills - 184 DU, estimated value of $2,760.
Other narcotics - 515.61 pounds, estimated value of $1,031,220.
Other narcotics (pills) - 65,570, estimated value of $1,639,250.
