Pleasant Valley starts process to replace boilers
At its regular meeting Thursday night, the Pleasant Valley School Board approved requesting bids for the replacement of HVAC equipment at the elementary and middle schools.
The topic came up at the district planning meeting on Tuesday night. William Gasper, the director of Operations, said although HVAC systems need to be addressed district wide, his request was just for the elementary and middle schools.
The work includes replacing six boilers in the middle school boiler room and three boilers in the elementary school boiler room, Gasper said at the district planning meeting on Tuesday. The boilers at the middle school run on propane and the ones at the elementary school run on propane and oil.
Gasper expects to receive bids between April 18 and May 23. The bids would be reviewed by the district’s planning committee on June 12, and then given to the school board for review and approval on June 22.
“We’re right on schedule,” Gasper said. “If everything works out, that project will be completed in 2024.”
A completion date of August 2024 is anticipated.
“It should be a real good, efficient system once it’s all done,” he said.
At the school board meeting, Michael Simonetta, the district’s business manager, said the school district received a $21,420.52 grant for the purchase of food service equipment. The Food Service Equipment Grant is for the purchase of a steamer for Pleasant Valley Middle School.
