State police release data on Easter enforcement details

Pennsylvania State Police at Troop M, Bethlehem, announced the results of the Easter holiday enforcement period that ran from 12:01 a.m. Friday, April 7, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, April 9.

The safety initiative targeted aggressive drivers, which included speeding, seat belt violations and child seat belt infractions.

Troopers specifically focused on apprehending motorists who operated their motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

During the enforcement period, police investigated 21 crashes and made 23 DUI arrests in Northampton and Bucks counties.

In addition to the DUI arrests, the enforcement data showed police issued 219 speeding citations, 4 child passenger seat citations, 10 seat belt citations and 545 other traffic citations. They made 17 criminal arrests and issued 16 seat belt violation warnings.

Police said a DUI checkpoint was conducted on Saturday, April 8, at the 7700 block of the Beth-Bath Pike, East Allen Township, resulting in police issuing 15 warnings and making one DUI arrest and one felony arrest for aggravated assault on law enforcement.
