Marian FBLA inducts new officers and members

Marian Catholic High School's Future Business Leaders of America held induction ceremonies for officers and members on Oct. 1 during the weekly Mass. More than 70 members were inducted into this year's club, including the 2014-2015 officers: Faith Befano, president; Kayla Rodick, vice president; Taylor Horvat, secretary; Rachel Meier, treasurer; Annette Ritzko, reporter; and Alison Walk, parliamentarian.

For the first time, FBLA class representatives were also chosen and recognized. Class representatives include: senior Kathryn Healey; junior Heather Getten; sophomore Natalia Konitzer, and freshman Aaron Srinivasan.FBLA gives members the opportunity to compete in business-related topics and, if eligible, move onto a state and national levels. All members are welcomed and encouraged to compete and be involved. A sweatpants fundraiser is being conducted to help defray the costs involved in competing.Since the beginningof the new school year,Marian's club has partnered with Saint JudeChildren's ResearchHospital to raise Childhood Cancer Awareness at the annual Gold out game, held on Sept. 26, at the Men of Marian field. The theme was "Fight Beneath theFriday Night Lights." FBLA sold gold T-shirts, baked goods, and "canned" for the cause. Future plans include fundraisingfor the PAFBLA stateproject this year, which benefits "The TwilightWish Foundation," an organization that grants wishes to honor and improve the lives of deserving seniors.Club adviser is Mrs. Patricia Patton.
