The Coaldale Police Department responded to 71 calls for service in March. Police patrolled a total of 2,418 miles and brought in $424.66, according to a report from police officer Todd Weiss that was read at the recent borough council meeting.
The Coaldale Fire Department responded to 12 calls in March for a total of 35 this year.
“It’s brush fire season as you can tell. We have been busy,” said fire department member and Coaldale Councilman Jake Adamitis.
Also during the meeting, council voted to pay borough secretary Jill Figner $15 per hour. She was hired in February and had been receiving $12 per hour. The pay raise is retroactive, and passed unanimously with Councilman Wayne Figner abstaining from the vote.
Council approved a handicapped parking application for 143 E. High St.
Coaldale’s annual cleanup is May 13, and residents are asked to put their trash out for collection on the evening of May 12. Residents are allowed up to 10 bags of garbage and four tires.
