Bowmanstown hopes to make some headway on its garbage bids.
Councilman Darren Thomas said at Tuesday’s borough council meeting that council is still working on the bids.
Thomas said the plan is to put a bid package together in time for council’s June meeting.
In September, council approved a 1-year contract with Tamaqua Transfer & Recycling, the only company that bid.
That contract, for one year at $132,300, went into effect Oct. 1, and does not include recycling.
There were also contract options, with curbside recycling collection, for 3 and 5 years.
After debate, council agreed at that time to go with the 1-year, no recycling plan.
Several council members preferred the 3-year plan, but the majority vote went with the 1-year plan.
