Land preservation board forming

Carbon County is looking for a few men and women who want to help oversee the process for a $10 million bond that will provide help to protect the county’s valuable land assets.

On Thursday, Commissioner Chris Lukasevich said that applications for the Open Space Authority Board are now being accepted through the end of April.

The board will have seven members and serve as an advisory board to the commissioners with regards to how to best utilize the funds to protect open space and agricultural land.

This past November, Carbon County voters overwhelmingly voted to support the bond for land preservation purposes. The bond has not yet been obtained but plans are beginning to take shape.
