Gabriel Ensemble presents its final concert

The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble presents the final concert of its 33rd season with music by great masters Brahms and Elgar.

The Ensemble will perform movements of sonatas with piano for violin, viola and cello by Brahms – giving the audience an up-close and personal experience of each string instrument, as well as the complete Elgar Piano Quintet Op. 84.

Elgar wrote his intensely romantic quintet in 1919, drawing his inspiration from the natural beauty of the area surrounding his cottage in Sussex, England.

The concert takes place on Sunday, at 3 p.m., at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven.

In addition to Xun Pan on piano, the concert features Ensemble members Simon Maurer and Dana Allaband violinists, Agnès Maurer, violist and Gerall Hieser, cellist.

Tickets at the door are $22 for adults and $17 for seniors; students are admitted free.

The GCE is a nonprofit, professional chamber music ensemble, dedicated to presenting high-quality performances from the chamber music repertoire.

Funding for concerts are made possible by ticket sales, public and private donations, as well as grants awarded by the Berks Arts Council, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Snayberger Foundation, and Fred V. Knecht Memorial Fund via the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation.
