Lehighton Police log

Lehighton Police Department reported on the following incidents.

• At 12:42 p.m. March 18, police were dispatched to a crash at South Ninth and Bridge Street involving a car and motorcycle.

A 2012 Ford Focus operated by a 75-year-old woman from Walnutport was stopped at the stop sign on Bridge Street and pulled out in front of a 2022 motorcycle driven by an 18-year-old man from Slatington which was traveling north on South Ninth. Upon impact, the man was thrown from his bike and suffered injuries to his legs. He was wearing a helmet, along with a safety vest which protected him from more serious injury. The woman will be cited for a stop sign violation.

• At 3:48 p.m. March 17, police were called to the Lower Park for a 57-year-old man from Lehighton requesting an ambulance. The man was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was cited for public drunkenness.

• At 9:30 a.m. March 7, police responded to a home in the 100 block of Bankway Street for an incident in which a 49-year-old man from Lehighton threatened and shoved a 40-year-old woman from Lehighton, causing her bruising on her legs. The man was charged with harassment.

• At 11:05 a.m. March 20, police were dispatched to the 100 block of Millway St. for a man acting in an erratic manner. The 35-year-old man from Lehighton had left, and after a brief search, he was located in a private backyard. The man’s behavior was out of the ordinary, as he claimed to be a leprechaun and spoke with a Scottish accent. He was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, and lodged in Carbon County Correctional Facility after begin arraigned by District Judge Eric C. Schrantz.
