Franklin Township Supervisors
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action last week:
• Awarded a three-year contract for landfill services to Waste Management as follows: Bid No. 1, $65 per ton; Bid No. 2, $70 per ton; and Bid No. 3, $74 per ton. There is no total amount, as every year the total tonnage is different.
• Approved the revised agreement for maintenance of pump station located in the township (Main Road and State Road) for the Central Carbon Municipal Authority to maintain and service the pump stations located in Franklin Township.
• Approved the waiver requests for the boundary line adjustment plan for the Marion L. Walker Jr. and the Borough of Lehighton, along with the Walker/Lehighton Borough subdivision plan. The substation is located at 125 Skyline Drive. Lehighton Borough owns the property for the substation and needed to replace the transistor, and as a result needed more property. They purchased the property from Marion Walker Jr.
• Appointed Joseph Craig as an alternate to the township zoning hearing board.
• Approved the final plan minor subdivision plan for the Larry D. & Judith E. Neeb.
• Approved the request from the Franklin Township Advisory Recreation and Parks Board for the township to purchase three ultra violet lights at a cost of about $400 each to be placed at Phifer’s Ice Dam ponds.
• Approved the request from the Franklin Township Advisory Recreation and Parks Board for permission to hold a Movie Night at the Phifer’s Ice Dam Park on the evening of May 21, with a time to be announced.
• Approved the request from the Beaver Rod and Gun Club to hold a Children’s Fishing Contest from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 27 at the Phifer’s Ice Dam Park.
• Approved the E-Cycling Event from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the parking lot where the recycling center was located.
• Announced there will be a change for the garbage collection day for Good Friday, April 7. The garbage will be collected on April 6.
