Walnutport Borough Council took the following action last week:

• Hired Chris Fredericks as a part-time police officer.

• Approved $1 raise for a 32-hour officer since she will not be taking health insurance.

• Agreed to bid street projects for North Lincoln Avenue and Third Street, as well as Chestnut Street and Kiddie Lane as alternate bids.

• Announced that open seats still remain on the planning commission (one seat); zoning hearing board (alternate needed); UCC Appeals Board (three seats); Civil Service Commission (one seat); and recreation board.

• Agreed to allow fire police to assist Lehigh Township Fire Company on March 25.

• Announced that an E-recycling and shredding event will be held from 4-6 p.m. May 17 in the borough hall parking lot.
