Mahoning Township supervisors will see a bump in pay, while planning commission and zoning hearing board members will be compensated for the first time.
A motion at Wednesday’s board of supervisors meeting passed 4-0 to increase supervisors’ pay to $100, as well as to pay planning commission and zoning hearing board members $50 per meeting attended.
Board Chairman Robert Slaw, who serves on the township’s planning commission, said he’s a huge proponent of seeing members of the group be compensated.
“I’m a big fan of the planning commission (getting something),” Slaw said. “They do a lot of work.”
Previously, supervisors were paid $50 a meeting, while planning commission and zoning hearing board members were not compensated.
The new rates will go into effect once township solicitor Tom Nanovic prepares an ordinance.
