Four area residents enter guilty pleas

Four area residents were among 18 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges recently in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes.

David V. DiCarlo, 41, of 527 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, with the first six days on house arrest with electronic surveillance and pay $12 per day cost, followed by 50 days strict supervision, then four months probation, pay the costs of prosecution, a fine of $500, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund and and complete the DUI school. DiCarlo was cited by Patrolman Charles Blesse, Coaldale police.Jessica Rachelle Knittle, 28, of 315 W. White St., Lansford, on a charge of possession an instrument of crime, criminal conspiracy and theft was placed on probation for 12 months with the sentence to run concurrent with a sentence serving in Carbon County, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund and make restitution of $212 to W. Seladones and M. Frantz. Information filed by Patrolman Matthew Bynon, Tamaqua police, stated Knittle was involved in removing diesel fuel along West Penn Pike.Eric Phillip Schaeffer, 36, of 1014 Summer Valley Road, New Ringgold, on a charge of stalking in the area of Village Drive and Pheasant Run Road, West Brunswick Township, was placed on probation 23 months, pay a $200 fine and court costs, undergo mental health evaluation and have no contact with the victim. On a charge of harassment pay a fine of $50 and costs. Schaeffer was cited by Trooper Thomas Hornung.Benjamin Jacob Horner, 28, of 36 Washington St., Middleport, on a charge of selling or furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors was placed on probation for 12 months, pay a fine of $1,000 and cost of prosecution. Horner was cited by Patrolman Joseph Welsh, Pottsville police.Ryan Thomas White, 23, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of DUI was placed in the IPP for six months with the first 10 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily cost, followed by 50 days strict probation, then four months probation, fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete DUI school and outpatient counseling and his driver's license is suspended 12 months. White was cited by Patrolman David George, Schuylkill Haven police.Ronald L. Knoll Jr., 30, Reading, on a DUI charge placed in the IPP program for six months, 10 days under house arrest, 50 under strict supervision, four months on probation, $500 fine, $100 to SAE fund, $50 Catrastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete DUI school and outpatient counseling, license suspended 12 months and make restitution of $745 to William Ferhat, Pottsville, for damage to his vehicle. On a charge of being involved in an accident with another vehicle was placed on probation for six months to run concurrent with the DUI sentence and on the charge of driving while his license was suspended weas fined $200 plus $50 costs. Knoll was cited by Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey, Pottsville police.Donald S. Hoehn, 53, Pitman, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 30 days in the Schuylkill County prison beginning Friday, March 5, at 9 a.m and if eligible is granted work release, followed by four years and 11 months in the IPP with first 90 days under house arrest and pay $12 per day fee, followed by 30 days wearing the SCRAM bracelet followed by seven months strict probation and four years probation, fined $1,500 and court costs, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, must install ignition interlock on his car for 12 months after his 18 months license suspension expires and he must complete the DUI school and outpatient counseling. On a charge of failing to obey a traffic signal was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Hoehn was cited by Patrolman Thomas Hoban, Jr., Minersville Police.Melissa C. Leibig, 26, Frackville, on a dui charge was placed in the IPP for six months, 15 days under house arrest and pay a $12 daily fee, 45 days strict supervision, four months probation, $1,000 fine, $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete alcohol highway safety school and outpatient counseling and license suspended 12 months. Leibig was cited by Patrolman Raymond A. Horan, Butler Township Police.Daniel Michael Finn, 51, Frackville, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve one year to five years in the county prison beginning Feb. 19 at 5 p.m., fined $2,500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $300 to Catastrophe fund, complete alcohol highway safety school and intensive outpatient counseling, license suspended 12 months and when restored must install an ignition lock on his car for 12 months. Finn was cited by Trooper Scott Grabowsky.Dane M. Piccone Sr., 35, Pottsville, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Feb. 26, at 9 a.m., fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, complete the DUI program and intensive outpatient counseling, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center and license suspended 12 months. Piccone was cited by Patrolman John Mohl, Pottsville police.Robert Thomas Chuplis, 31, Girardville, on a charge of theft of a bank card left in a bank machine at M&T Bank, Ashland, by a customer, was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, court costs and make restitution of $100 to the victim. Chuplis was cited by Chief Adam Bernodin, Ashland police.Jason Thomas Kerstetter, 20, Frackville, on a charge of disorderly conduct was placed on probation 12 months and make restitution of $6,039.96 to the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust. He was cited by Officer Richard Haraschak III, Ashland police.Richard J. Ludwig, 36, Ringtown, on a charge of recklessly endangering another person was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $4,036.01 to Penn National Insurance Company for damage to vehicle of Cathy Shoran in an accident on Ringtown Boulevard, Union Township. On a charge of being involved in an accident with another vehicle was given a six months probation sentence to run concurrent with the recklessly endangering charge and on a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $25 and costs. Ludwig was cited by Officer Phillip Beaver, Union Township police.Christian Chester Mark, 31, Port Carbon, on a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $200, pay court costs and $50 to CJEA fund. Mark was cited by Trooper Robert Oakley.Matthew R. Oshman, 20, Ashland, on a charge of burglary of the home of Patrick and Diane Doyne, 187 Tielman Road, Butler Township, was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for having served 150 days, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $797.94 to Travelers Insurance Company. On a charge of criminal mischief he was fined $25 and costs. Oshman was cited by Patrolman Sharon Butler, Butler Township police.He also was sentenced on a charge of receiving stolen jewelry and was placed on probation for 23 months but it runs concurrent with the burglary sentence and make restitutioin of $300 to Patrick and Diane Doyne.Lisa Marie Seltzer, 52, Orwigsburg, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Seltzer was cited Patrolman David George, Schuylkill Haven police.Allen J. Zimmerman, 25, Frackville, on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance was sentenced to serve two to 23 months in the county prison, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $150 to Schuylkill Countuy Drug Task Force and $226 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. He received credit for serving 12 days in prison.Christopher Hopkins, 27, Pottsville, on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional facility and he has to surrender to the sheriff on Friday, March 5, at 9 a.m. He received credit for serving 38 days in the county prison. He also must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $140 to Pottsville Police Drug Task Force and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.All defendants must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole
