Bowmanstown will advertise an ordinance related to the cable franchise agreement with Blue Ridge Communications.
Borough council on a 5-0 vote Tuesday agreed to advertise the ordinance for enactment at next month’s council meeting.
Last month, council tabled the ordinance. Council needs to advertise and adopt the ordinance in order to adopt the Blue Ridge Communication TV franchise agreement.
At that time council made a motion not to assess a cable franchise fee, with all in favor.
Councilman Darren Thomas said at that time he believes it’s 100% discriminating.
Mayor Zach Snyder said at that time it 100% is a back door tax.
Resident Ben Price said that it’s not hidden, as it’s on the bill.
Resident Robert Sikorsky said he agrees with Thomas that it is discriminatory.
In December, council adopted the Blue Ridge Communications TV Franchise Agreement.
