A home was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon in Tobyhanna Township. The fire was reported around 1 p.m. at 138 Route 940 with flames showing.

Fire companies from Monroe and Carbon counties responded to the scene battling the flames and setting up a tanker task force.

Area fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway.
