Following the popularity of the previous three “Hometown Hero” banner programs, the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a new one for 2023.
The Hometown Heroes program honors any local hometown hero who has provided beneficial service to the Tamaqua area. These heroes may include first responders, organization volunteers, civic leaders, active military personnel or veterans. The individuals may be living or diseased.
Banners will be displayed on available poles in downtown Tamaqua for a minimum of three years.
“We have such a great response to these banners and this program, and the chamber is very happy to take part in honoring all Tamaqua Hometown Heroes. It is our goal to have this batch of banners on display by Memorial Day.” said Aimee Dotson, Chamber outreach and office administrator.
The current banners on display have been up longer than recommended, and people on the waiting list from that program have been waiting for an opportunity to honor their loved ones, Dotson said.
As always, after the banners are removed, the sponsors will be able to keep them.
Sponsoring a banner is $225 and information is available at www.tamaqua.net or by emailing Dotson at chamber@tamaqua.net.
