Lehighton woman avoids trial, enters guilty plea

A Carbon County woman, scheduled for trial on Monday in the county court on charges of driving under the influence and fleeing police, instead entered into a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.

Wendy C. Kneller, 49, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to one count of DUI of a controlled substance before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II. In exchange for the plea the commonwealth agreed to drop a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police and three motor vehicle code summary offenses.

She was arrested on Jan. 21, 2019, by Mahoning Township.

Sentencing was deferred to a later date.
