The Marian Colts and Fillies both extended winning streaks with victories on Monday.

The win by the Marian girls also clinched a district playoff berth.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Southern Columbia-Marian

Marian won its fifth game in a row, holding off Southern Columbia for a 60-52 non-league victory.

Frank Valente poured in 22 points to lead the Colts, who improved to 8-6 after starting the season 3-6.

The winners, who trailed at halftime, also received 14 points from Julius Currie.

Brian Britton topped the Tigers (6-3) with a game-high 23 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marian-Lourdes

Marian’s eighth-straight victory, a 59-38 Schuylkill League win over Lourdes, clinched a district playoff berth.

Kerrigan Digris scored eight of her 11 points in the opening quarter as the Fillies - who are still undefeated in league play- raced to a 23-5 lead.

Carly Minchhoff finished with a game-high 16 points for the winners, now 11-1 overall and 7-0 in the league, while Frankie Martinelli contributed 13.

Masie Reed, Chloe Rishel and Leah Kosmer all recorded seven points for the Red Raiders, who dropped to 9-3 and 3-3.

Blue Mountain-Lehighton

Skylynne Hardy scored a game-high 18 points to help Blue Mountain gain a 44-31 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.

Hardy registered 14 of her points in the second half to help the Eagles (13-2 overall; 7-1 league) remain just one game back of North Schuylkill for the top spot in Division 1. Blue Mountain has now won nine games in a row.

For the Indians, who fell to 4-11 and 2-6, Olivia Serfass recorded a team-high 14 points. Ryleigh Trotman chipped in with nine.

North Schuylkill cruised to a 72-35 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua to remain undefeated in the league.

Maddy Wetzel poured in a game-high 27 points as the Spartans, winners of five straight games, improved to 8-0 in Division 1. Overall, North Schuylkill has a mark of 11-2.

The Blue Raiders (3-12; 0-8) received a team-high 15 points from Kendle Miller, while Lorelei Plasha finished with 10.

Tri-Valley used a big second quarter to help gain a 42-24 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.

Gianna Poletti scored six of her 11 points in the second frame as the Bulldogs outscored the Wreckers 16-5 to take control of the game.

Grace Header led the winners with 14 points, while Bethany Houser topped Weatherly with 10.

Tri-Valley upped its mark to 12-3 overall, and 5-2 in the league. The Wreckers are now 3-9 and 0-7.

The Tigers received falls from both Luke Fugazzotto (160) and Dalton Clymer (172).

North Schuylkill defeated Weatherly, 48-14.

Logan Damiter scored 12 points for the winners.

The Wreckers were led by Mitchel Konek’s 12 points.

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Pine Grove cruised to a 40-3 victory over Panther Valley.

Seltzer led the Cardinals with 11 points.

Pottsville-Tamaqua

Pottsville rolled to a 45-20 victory over Tamaqua.

The Tides’ Barnhart finished with a game-high 18 points, while Davis had 15.

Lauren Ligenza paced the Blue Raiders with a team-high 12 points.

North Schuylkill posted a 35-4 win over Weatherly.

The Spartans’ Monica Selgrade and Maddie Zilker both scored seven points.

7TH GRADE

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Pine Grove rolled to a 41-16 win over Panther Valley.

Flynn paced the Cardinals with 13 points, while Umbenhauer added 12.

PV received a team-high seven points from Ayeta Gjoca.

Pottsville-Tamaqua

Pottsville earned a 30-22 victory over Tamaqua.

The Blue Raiders’ Naomi Knitter led all scorers with 10 points.
