Jack Frost opens for 50th year

Jack Frost Ski Area, owned by Vail Resorts, opened Dec. 17 with a ceremony celebrating three new quad ski lifts on the mountain. Jack Frost is in Kidder Township between White Haven and Blakeslee, just north of Lake Harmony. The new lifts are Pocono, Tobyhanna and Paradise. Both Jack Frost and Big Boulder are celebrating their 50th and 75th anniversaries. Stop into either lodge at 3 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays for a special treat while supplies last. The ski area opened in 1972. The Tobyhanna lift, shown in photo, was popular with skiers who enjoyed some fresh snow that morning. SETH ISENBERG/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
