Slatington borough council

Slatington Borough Council approved the following measures this week:

• Accepted six bids for the Digester Lid Removal Project. The highest bid was approximately $926,000. The bid was awarded to the lowest bidder, at $194,799, which was Brave Industrial Paint LLC of Long Branch, New Jersey.

• Made a motion to accept the one bid that was received for the AutoCon panel upgrades at the water filtration plant. The bid was awarded to LRM Inc., of Framingham, Mass., in the amount of $100,072.44, contingent upon the borough engineer and the borough solicitor approving the paperwork.

• Approved police officer Christopher Forner to attend a training seminar – “New Detective and New Criminal Investigator,” Feb, 13-17. Approximate cost is $500, not to exceed $750.

• Appointed Joyce Thompson to fulfill the remainder of Annabel Fogle’s 3-year term (Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2025) to the Slatington Public Library Board of Directors.

• Reappointed Jaime Sillett to the Zoning Hearing Board for a 3-year term, expiring on Dec. 31, 2025.

• Authorized borough Manager Daniel Stevens to approve exemption report from Statewide Tax Recovery Inc. for delinquent per capita taxes in the amount of $38.50.

• Approved Resolution R-01-23, a resolution of Slatington Borough establishing the fee structure for sewage enforcement work and sewage permits within the borough.

• Councilman Bryon Reed advised council that the borough water was tested and found safe for human consumption again this month.

• Made a motion to go with a 5-year contract with Rave Mobile Safety. A 1-year contract would have been $2,214. A 3-year contact would be $2,070 per year. The 5-year contract is $1,966 per year.

• No bids were received for industrial lights from the water plant that the borough tried to sell on MuniciBid.
