Pleasant Valley to buy vape sensors
The Pleasant Valley School Board approved the purchase of health safety and vaping device sensors for the high school and middle school during its meeting Monday night.
The all-in-one smart sensors are made by Johnson Controls and will be installed in the bathrooms.
The devices at the high school cost $20,970.42 for installation, programing and testing. The same thing for those at the middle school cost $17,357.38. Both purchases will be covered by Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund allocations.
Scholarship
Assistant Superintendent Rae Lin Howard announced that the Monroe County Garden Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student who plans to further his or her education in any of the following fields: ecology, horticulture, floriculture, landscaper architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, land management, and/or similar subjects. The scholarship is based on need, scholastic ability and character.

In other business, Michael Simonetta, the business manager, asked for approval of the following:
• Payment from the bond fund to D’Huy Engineering Inc. in Bethlehem for $24,500.
• Award of 2022-2023 spring athletic supplies and equipment bid to M-F Athletics for $2,370; Scholastic Sports for $2,285.50; Sportsman for $17,949.69; and BSN Sports for $2,518.82. The total is $25,124.01.
• Award a contract of up to $8,000 to Coyle, Lynch & Company, a valuation adviser in Media.
• Advertise for sealed bids for the fall athletic supplies and equipment.
