CCTI students win numerous awards at competitions

Carbon Career & Technical Institute students competed at the DECA competitions on Dec. 14 and at SkillsUSA competitions on Dec. 13, with many students bringing home medals, according to CCTI Principal Michelle Allen.

The DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) program was held at Johnson College of Technology, Scranton.

“Our students competed at the district level and came home with a ton of medals,” Allen said. “We have four first place winners, four second place winners, two third place winners, two fourth place, two fifth and one sixth.”

All the place winners will compete in the state competition Feb. 22-24 at Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey.

The SkillsUSA District event was held at LCCC on Dec. 13. The Gold winners will go to the state competition to be held April 12-14 at Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, Hershey, and Lebanon Expo, Lebanon

“In addition to their competition talents,” Allen said, “they will showcase their public speaking and leadership talents as well.”
