A final proposed budget was presented to the Lansford Borough Council at a budget meeting Tuesday.
“No tax increases, and we are looking to lower the sewage transfer fees,” said Borough President Bruce Markovich.
Lacey Gonzalez, who works for LGH Tax and Accounting of Summit Hill, presented the balanced budget to council.
“The total proposed budget for 2023 is $1,865,670.76,” Gonzalez said. “By mid-day Wednesday, if no one has any other changes, the budget will be posted for 10 days and advertised in the paper.”
Gonzalez said that were some small changes, but nothing really big.
“The current budget includes payroll for all the current employees,” Gonzalez said. “The budget does not include added payroll for additional police or the code enforcement officer, all of which the borough is looking to hire. Borough council will need to discuss that when the positions are filled.”
Regarding the sewage transmission fees paid by the public, council is looking at reducing the fee once the borough’s sanitation sewer splits from the storm sewers.
Act 534 will make the sewer authority responsible for the sanitation sewer system. The borough will be responsible for the storm sewers. Once that split occurs, council members said they want to reduce the borough residents’ sewage transmission fees. They will still need some funds to maintain the town’s storm sewers.
Council expects to vote on the new budget at the Dec. 14 general meeting.
