A Palmerton resident believes lighting at the borough garage needs to be addressed.
Raberta Hans told borough council on Thursday insufficient lighting became a safety issue at the borough garage on Third Street on Election Day.
Councilman Kris Hoffner said the borough has tried to get the lighting changed.
Borough Manager Donna McGarry said she heard about the situation the next day.
“It’s not a problem in the spring,” McGarry said. “If the location remains there, we will figure something out.”
“You’ve got to do something,” Hans said. “It’s a liability.”
Resident Lisa Snell Kern said that there is a light above the door, but that it was not functioning.
“This is the first time a concern has been raised,” McGarry said. “However it certainly is valid and if the voting continues at this location, we will see that better lighting is available. The decisions isn’t ours; it would be up to the (Carbon) county to change the voting location.”
