Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 South 3rd St., Lehighton, begins 9:30 a.m. Masks are optional. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows in the narthex.

Advent-to-Christmas concert and organ recital by Minister of Music Alex Haggerty begins at 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 27. Carol sing-a-long is included in the program. All are welcome.

Weekly Sunday Church School for students ages 3 though grade 6 begins at 10:45 a.m. Confirmation class for seventh and eighth grade students is at the same time.

For those desiring to become members at Trinity, overview of information is held Sunday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Moore. Pre-registration is required.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Events are scheduled to celebrate Trinity’s 150th anniversary. A joyous worship service to mark the 150th anniversary is Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. NEPA Associate of the Bishop Rev. Carl Shankweiler presides. A light supper will follow. Additional plans include commemorative T-shirts, family style covered dish dinner w/ “The Amazing Magi” Feb. 4, youth-featured worship March 23, Cantata in April, anniversary festival worship June 4.

Trinity Thrift Store Christmas Sale takes place Friday and Saturday, as well as Monday and Tuesday in Luther Hall 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Seasonal gift items, toys, decorations, knick-knacks plus more are featured.

St. John’s Evangelical

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold worship service at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday in the Fellowship Hall.

Tree for Troops Sunday. The council will be serving Christmas cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate and taking donations to purchase trees to give to military families through the Trees for Troops program. Consider giving money toward a tree or purchase a tree for $25.

Book Club is Nov. 29, 6:30 p.m.

Trees will be loaded on a FedEx truck at Yenser’s Tree Farm and will be shipped on Dec. 2.

Advent Worship & Soup Supper: Nov. 30, 6 p.m. Meal before service, which will be soup, salad, bread and dessert & beverage. We are asking our members to volunteer to make a soup, or a dessert and to donate a salad and bread. You can volunteer for whichever week is best for you.

The church will have Soup and Service on Dec. 7, 14 and 21. The Midweek Advent service will begin at 7 p.m.

Winter Coat Drive: The church will begin collecting items in November through December. We are looking for new and gently used men’s, women’s and children’s winter coats. We will also take winter apparel and toiletry items. Items may be dropped off during church office hours Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or on Sunday mornings before or after worship service.
