Parryville will be erecting a new flagpole outside borough hall, council decided at its November meeting.
“Every town hall should have a flagpole,” said council member Donald Smith.
Jason Smith, council president, is looking for a Christmas tree to be donated so the borough can use it as a holiday tree. The borough used to get a 10-foot tree from a donor but that person is no longer able to do it.
Anyone interested in donating a tree should contact Smith at the borough hall. A tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 10.
Donald Smith said he will be meeting with Carbon County representatives to discuss additional grant funds to be used for fixing roads.
The borough is selling a 1999 GMC Sierra truck with 97,000 miles for $2,500. The borough said the vehicle is not running right now, but has new tires and a good engine. It will be listed on Facebook Marketplace or interested buyers can contact the borough hall.
The Parryville Fire Company is hosting a breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 4. Santa will arrive by fire truck at 9 a.m.
The fire department will host a children’s toy bingo, adults and children can play, at 1 p.m. Dec. 11. There will also be a basket raffle. The fire department will not have a January breakfast.
Electronics recycling is on Dec. 11. Contact the borough with questions. Proof of residency will be required.
