Four children removed from Monroe home

Four children were removed from a home in Monroe County on Sunday due to deplorable conditions.

State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were dispatched to 1134 Parish Park in Effort for a welfare check called in by a neighbor. On scene troopers found four children, one under age 1 and the other three ages 1, 4 and 5, living in either the mobile trailer with no heat and running water or in a tent in the driveway of the property.

Troopers observed these deplorable conditions and contacted Childline. Monroe County Children & Youth Services were also contacted. Through an investigation conducted by state police, children and youth services and the county district attorney’s office, the children were removed from the residence and placed with a grandparent.

Troopers said the district attorney’s office has declined criminal charges.
