W. Penn official airs concerns about blighted property

A West Penn Township official is concerned with the state of a blighted property.

Supervisor Tim Houser alluded to the Snyder’s property on West Penn Pike at Monday morning’s board of supervisors meeting.

“This property here has to be going on six to seven years,” Houser said. “We can’t get anywhere with the bank; we can’t find out who owns it.”

Township solicitor Paul J. Datte told Houser he believes the township could use its Community Development Block Grant money.

However, Datte said he was concerned because he believes there’s a mortgage on the property.

Houser said he understood, but added, “I think it’s been long enough now, and someone’s got to make a move on it.”

The township has been working for years on this problem property.

This is the same property the township has been working on. It is on West Penn Pike. The person that did own it is now deceased.
