Franklin Township supervisors took the following action this week:
• Hired Bobby Smith as a full-time road crew/garbage crew employee, at the rate of $15 an hour, retroactive to Nov. 14.
• Appointed Anthony Frantz to the township’s planning commission to replace Michael Quinn.
• Will advertise for independent auditors to audit all the township’s 2022 accounts.
• Authorized Girard Pension Services to adjust eligible retired police officer Thomas Beltz’s cost of living adjustment at a rate of 8.7%, effective Jan. 1.
• Approved township fire police to assist with traffic control during the annual Snowflake 5K walk/run to be held at 8 a.m. Dec. 10 in Lehighton.
• Announced there will be no change in garbage collection for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
• Announced that mobile text alerts will soon be able to be viewed on the township’s website. The link to sign up to receive the alerts will be found on the website in the near future.
