Ringing bells

Folks walking into Kinsley’s ShopRite for days to come can help the Salvation Army help its various needy families by putting something monetary in the red kettle.

Turkeys needed

Help is needed by the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network to fill the need of hungry folks seeking aid for their respective families, especially turkeys.

Director Colleen Walsh shares that turkey donations, desperately needed, will be accepted until Monday.

Free dinner

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting a free community dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. today, by way of a drive-through pick-up. No reservation is required. The menu includes meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, vegetable and dessert.

The church also offers its parish hall for special events.

C’hill Historical

The Chestnuthill Township Historical Society will hold its final meeting of 2022 tonight at 6 p.m. at the Park Building on Rt. 715.

The first meeting in 2023 will be on the third Wednesday in March.

Auxiliary meets

The American Legion Auxiliary of Post 927 is slated to meet tonight at 7 p.m.

Eldred meeting

The next Eldred board of supervisors general meeting will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the township Municipal Building in Kunkletown.

Effort Methodist

Effort Methodist church is having another soup sale, offering chili and old-fashioned chicken noodle. Orders are due by today. The pick-up date is Nov. 20 after the services at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

The church worship services are Saturdays at 5 p.m., Sundays at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Masks are optional.

If not attending in person, one can explore these other options: 8 a.m. service is broadcast via Zoom, the 10:30 service is broadcast via Facebook Live or there is a simple prerecorded service each week on Facebook.

Adult Sunday school is held on the first and third Sundays and all other age groups the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 9:15 a.m.

Special presentation

The Western Pocono Community Library, Brodheadsville, will host William A. Stavey at 6:30 p.m. today in the WPCL Community Room. He will be presenting a program and display on Depression-era Appalachia as told through the TV show, The Waltons.

The program will take place in the WPCL Community Room.

Lions change time

The Western Pocono Lions Club has announced a time change to its monthly meeting at Cherry’s Restaurant in Kresgeville effective Thursday. The club will now meet at 6 p.m.

The change has been to accommodate the restaurant’s schedule.

Fall Drive benefit

Operation Touch of Home will hold its Fall D/Pack the Mac, drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, at Kinsley’s ShopRite in Brodheadsville.

Library event

The Western Pocono Community Library, Brodheadsville, is hosting its craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday. The library is at 131 Pilgrim Way, Brodheadsville.

Pantry open

The West End Food Pantry in Kunkletown is slated to from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Meal served

McMichaels UMC will be serving a donation-only dinner from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday. One can eat in or take out. The meal is being prepared by Pastor Ed and Nick Funk. There will be roast beef and turkey with lots of sides.
