State Police at Fogelsville - crashes

State police at Fogelsville reported on crashes investigated by troopers:

• Francisco D. Rivera, 29, of Allentown, was cited by state police at the Fogelsville barracks with “following too closely” after a two-vehicle crash at 10:34 a.m. Oct. 21 on Route 100 in Lower Macungie Township.

Police said he was driving a 2009 Honda Civic northbound when it struck the rear of a 2014 GMC Savanna driven by Steven J. Smith, 43, of Germansville, after Smith had stopped for a traffic light at Gehman Road.

Police said neither driver was injured.

The Civic was towed from the scene while the GMC was driven from the scene, police said.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:07 p.m. on Sept. 22 along Route 309 in Lynn Township, Lehigh County. Troopers said Kaitlyn M. Conner, 24, of New Tripoli, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe northbound in the right lane and slowing down to make a left turn into Kings Plaza. Linda D. Lopez, 51, of Tamaqua, driving a 2005 Mazda Tribute, was behind Conner and failed to slow down in time. The front of her vehicle hit the rear of Conner’s vehicle.

No one was injured. Both vehicle sustained heavy disabling damages and had to be towed.

Lopez was cited for following too closely.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:04 p.m. on Oct. 4 along Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County. Troopers said Jesse P. James, 24, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2997 Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound in the middle lane when he lost control. His vehicle hit the cement barrier on the north side, crossed both lanes of travel and hit a 2020 Mack truck driven by Anatoli Babkin, 43, of Brooklyn, New York, and came to rest partially in the off ramp and shoulder for West Rock Road. The truck came to final rest on the south side shoulder.

No one was injured.

James was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• The passenger in a 2017 Audi that crashed at 1:40 a.m. Nov. 1 on Route 309 in Lynn Township suffered minor injuries.

Police said Cory N. Johns, 25, of Bethlehem, was transported by the Cetronia Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police said the Audi was driven by Alyssa G. Wygand, 22, also of Bethlehem, who was also transported to the hospital, although police said she was uninjured.

Police said she was northbound and lost control of the vehicle on a curve, went off the west side of the road and struck a tree.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said Wygand was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
