Woman charged with trespassing in Lansford
A Lansford woman with a warrant through Carbon County has been charged with trespassing inside a condemned home in the borough.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Callen Rich of the Lansford Police Department in the case against Katie Shainline:
At 4:58 p.m. Oct. 5, Rich received notice from dispatch of two individuals trespassing inside a condemned house in the borough.
Rich arrived at the home in the 300 block of East Bertsch Street and checked the front door of the posted condemned building, which was locked, and proceeded to the rear of the building.
On the rear porch, there was a woman, Shainline, 32, sitting on the staircase. She identified herself, and when asked who else was in the residence, Shainline claimed a man was inside.
Rich advised Shainline to remain outside the residence and wait for him to return with the other trespasser.
Rich entered through the broken rear door, and inside, Shainline heard him raising his voice with the man.
Shainline re-entered the residence against Rich’s commands, and both parties were taken to the front of the residence as Summit Hill Police Department arrived to assist.
Shainline had a confirmed warrant through Carbon County, and she was also arrested for criminal trespass of an unoccupied posted condemn structure within the borough.
Shainline began to fight and argue with the officers when they were placing her into custody. She began to pull away and resist handcuffs being placed on her free hand.
Officers forced Shainline to the ground to protect her from injury and placed her in custody.
Upon being placed in the cruiser, Shainline began to lay across the seat and continual strike the door panel and window cage of a police unit.
She began screaming and was extremely uncooperative, and was transported to the Carbon County Correctional Facility on an open warrant.
Shainline faces charges of criminal trespass - break into structure, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest/other law enforcement, and defiant trespass posted.
She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Nov. 16 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
