Schuylkill County commissioners took steps at a public meeting Wednesday to keep people safer.
On behalf of 911 center, commissioners agreed to an agreement with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for the award of $137,695 of statewide funding to be used toward ESInet maintenance and NG911 GIS readiness projects.
The software allows people who call 911 to send information through pictures, videos or text messages.
Also for the 911 center, the county also entered into a memorandum of understanding with a AFSCME Council 89 local 1512, regarding mandatory overtime for the collective bargaining agreement.
In other matters Wednesday, commissioners are seeking invitations to bid on elevator maintenance for the courthouse, at 401 N. 2nd St., Pottsville. Bids are due in the Controller‘s office by 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7. The bids will be opened publicly at 9 a.m. Nov. 10 in the commissioners’ board room.
Commissioners also approved a resolution to apply for $1,156,224 in Community Development Block Grant funding through the state Department of Community and Economic Development. The funding would be for fiscal year 2022.
