Sensitive Jim Thorpe Area School District employee information posted to BoardDocs, an online school board management website, was done in error, Superintendent Robert Presley said Wednesday night.
Presley didn’t give a number but said “multiple employees” were affected.
Lynette Curran, an elementary school paraprofessional, said she was one of the employees affected and questioned the school board as to how the breach occurred.
“We sincerely apologize for the release of the information to the public,” Presley said. “It was part of a report that was requested by the board, but when it was put on BoardDocs, it was mistakenly checkmarked as something that would go on the public portion of the website. It was immediately taken down as soon as the error was realized.”
The district is working with its solicitor on the next steps, but Presley said employees would receive written notification on how the matter is being rectified.
“That plan could include things like credit monitoring for the employees impacted,” he said. “We have a plan in place to make sure something like this never happens again.”
In a separate issue, substitute teacher Mary Blay said her home address was posted to BoardDocs in a supporting document to go along with the school board’s approval of the district substitute list.
“I feel that the privacy of the substitute teachers has been invaded,” Blay said. “It is nobody’s concern as to where I live, especially in today’s age and world.”
Presley said he removed the document listing the home address of the substitute teachers while Wednesday’s board meeting was in progress.
