Bowmanstown borough council agreed last week to send letters to homeowners who have not had their sump pumps inspected.
Council asked township secretary Tracy Burbage to send the letters.
The homes are those that the water meters were installed before the decision was made to do the inspections along with the meter change out.
The homes where meters were changed before that decision will be sent a letter.
Wastewater treatment operator Chris Bixler said half the town will receive letters.
The wastewater treatment plant has had issues of inflow and infiltration for sometime, especially during heavy rainstorms.
Bixler said the borough is confident much of the water is from East Penn Township.
East Penn is working with Bixler to find any inflow and infiltration issues coming from East Penn.
“If we can get those letters out ASAP, that would be great,” Bixler said.
Councilman Darren Thomas said there are a couple of homes that have already rectified their problems.
Council members William Ravert, Donna Winter and Candace Rodrigues were not in attendance.
