PVE PTO today

The Pleasant Valley Elementary School PTO will meet this afternoon beginning at 4 p.m.

OTOH meeting

Operation Touch of Home will be meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the American Legion, Post 927, in Gilbert.

Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Post 927 Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. tonight. Guests are welcome.

Mission meal

Tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. West End Missions will be hosting its dinner at 4:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.

Orders due

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company is hosting a hoagie sale from Thompson’s Meat Market.

Orders are due tomorrow. Pickup is Oct. 25. Call Gail at 610-681-5716.

Study starts

McMichaels UMC has announced a Bible study on the book of Revelation beginning at 7 p.m., tomorrow.

Twofold sale

Middlecreek Christian Church will be holding its spring rummage sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with a bag sale on Saturday.

Items to donate to the rummage sale can be dropped off at the following dates/times, with no exceptions: from noon to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; and from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday.

No donations will be accepted after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Not being accepted electronics are: TVs, exercise equipment, luggage, or items scented from smoke, pets, mold, or mildew will be accepted. The church reserves the right to reject donations.

Middlecreek Christian is located at 343 Dorshimer Road in Kresgeville.

Deadline tomorrow

Monroe County Conservation District’s Environmental Education Center has scheduled its truckload wild bird seed sale for Oct. 22. This year’s sale will once again feature Aspen Song Bird Seed Blends. Ordering deadline is tomorrow.

One can obtain a complete order form by calling the Center at 570-629-3061, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and some Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

One may also download the order form from the website: www.mcconservation.org.

In addition, the gift shop sells bird seed along with a wide variety of feeders and field guides year-round.

Karaoke Nite

Every second and fourth Friday of the month there is a karaoke night from 7 to 10 p.m. at the American Legion.

West End Pantry

The West End Pantry in Kunkletown is slated to hold a distribution from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Garlic planting

The Garden of Giving has announced its intentions of doing a garlic planting from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 Saturday. Volunteers are needed.

OLQP Tailgate

On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting its own tailgate.

Instructions include: bring your own food, your family & friends. Support your favorite team. Decorate your car.

Family Fun Day

Effort UMC’s Missions Committee is hosting a Fall Family Fun Day from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday. They will be having a candy chute, pumpkin patch, face painting, games, costume parade and coloring contest.

Also in attendance will be members of the PA State Police, Monroe County Sheriff’s office and a representative from Jack Rader’s office.

Families interested in supporting this event can do so by decorating their vehicles trunk and sharing in on this community event. Those who are willing to do so, are asked to let Melinda Knitter, at mknitter@ptd.net, or Brenda Mitchell at eumced@ptd.net know of said intentions.

Harvest Home

St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, celebrated Harvest Home on Sunday past and will again celebrate it this Sunday.

The worship service is at 9 a.m.

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is also celebrating Harvest Home Sunday. Services are at 8 and 10:30 a.m.

Donations received will be given to the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network.

Dinner pickup

A reminder for those who ordered a ham takeout dinner from Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kresgeville, the pickup for those dinners is from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday.
