Letter to the editor: Water bill increase doesn’t make sense

The Lansford Coaldale Joint Water Authority recently increased fees and decreased usage requirements resulting in a 35-40% revenue increase. When paying my bill on July 5, I asked Vice Chairman Foster if he could justify the increase. Not surprisingly, he responded “inflation.” I reminded him that inflation is only running at a 10-11 % pace and suggested that he post a listing of specific cost drivers that are equaling or surpassing the 35-40% range on the LCJWA website. He responded that it was a good idea and that he would personally get it done. As of this date, nothing has been posted.

On a brighter note, kudos to Coaldale Council for not reappointing Mr. Demyanovich to the board. Lansford council needs to do the same with Mr. Pogwist. Both have been making a career out of board membership. Council also needs to urge the board to establish term limits and nepotism policies.
