When the Historic Horse Head Inn in Palmerton went down, so went an era that will long be remembered. The 70-year-old Tudor type structure that took months to build was demolished within days. On Friday, all that was left of the popular landmark was a heap of rubble.
The Marvin C. Miller Demolition Co., Birdsboro, leveled the inn, along with small frame dwellings and garages that once served as horse stables in the “good old days.”
The inn’s origin dates back to the start of its construction in 1900. In its early days, it was a lively place, holding many fond memories for New Jersey Zinc Company employees living in Palmerton.
