Several services scheduled during festival

Several services are set to take place at this year’s Palmerton Community Festival.

For starters, the opening ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. Friday on the Main Stage.

Under the direction of Carol Burkhardt, students from the SS Palmer Elementary and Towamensing Elementary School choruses will sing the national anthem.

They will be joined by the Color Guard of the Palmerton United Veterans of Organization.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Kenneth Todd Melber Jr. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmerton will lead an ecumenical worship service.

Sponsored by the Christian Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches, the service is open for anyone to attend.

It provides a means for those involved in the festival to have a worship opportunity.
