If you have a complaint about a problem in the borough of Nesquehoning, don’t take your complaints to Facebook, one councilwoman says.
Last week, Councilwoman Abbie Guardiani, who chairs the sanitation committee, said that she doesn’t follow Facebook so complaints about garbage pickups or dumping won’t be seen by her.
“I’m not looking at it (Facebook),” she said, noting that in recent months, people have taken to the Nesquehoning community news Facebook page to air their problems in the borough.
She urged people to follow the protocol to report a problem and she would answer them in a timely manner.
She said that there is a paper you can fill out on a complaint or call the borough office and speak to the secretaries.
Guardiani said that problems are resolved a lot quicker when residents go through the proper channels to first report the problem.
In other sanitation matters, Guardiani also reminded residents that there is an upcoming electronics recycling event, slated to take place from 2-4 p.m. on Sept. 6 along Locust Street.
“A lot of things (they take) for free,” she said.
There are some larger items, such as televisions that come with a fee, but “It’s a heck of a lot better than throwing your TV up on Industrial Road or on top of the mountain,” Guardiani said. “Let’s recycle things properly.”
Family Promise also requested placing a dumpster on its property that would be paid for by the nonprofit organization.
Council approved the request for the placement.
