The Pleasant Valley School Board will hold a special meeting Thursday to interview candidates for the open school board seat.
The seat was vacated Aug. 11 when school board Vice President Laura Jecker announced her resignation.
Jecker was reelected to the board in November 2021.
Her successor will serve in her place until the next election in November 2023.
School board President Susan Kresge said seven people have applied for seat. The deadline was Aug. 23.
Kresge asked the other directors how they would like to go about interviewing the candidates. She said they have held a special meeting in the past.
She also asked them if they wanted to interview all seven or just the top candidates.
School board director and treasurer Diane Serfass said, “To be transparent, I personally would like to interview all seven.”
Several other directors agreed.
The special meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. All seven candidates will be interviewed.
