Crashes investigated

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported the following crashes in Schuylkill County.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported Saturday along Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Shelley J. Brown, 69, of Pottsville, was driving a Hyundai Kona southbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a dumpster in the parking lot of a local business.

Brown was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed, police said.

• A one-vehicle crash happened Aug. 17 along Route 895 in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Nelson J. Baez Vega, 26, of Freeland, was driving a loaded semi-truck and trailer westbound and took his hoodie off while driving. His vehicle drifted off the road and struck a utility pole, then veered off into a field.

Baez Vega was taken to St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg, for treatment of a minor injury. The vehicle had to be towed, police said.

Baez Vega was cited for careless driving.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at Aug. 13 along East Bacon Street in Palo Alto borough.

Troopers said Barbara A. Snitzer, 90, of Port Carbon, was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound when she became distracted. Her vehicle struck a parked car along the south side, police said. Snitzer had minor injuries but did not require immediate medical attention. Both vehicles had minor damages.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at Aug. 14 at the intersection of Peach Mountain Road at Wade Road, in Norwegian Township.

Troopers said Kamryn N. Brennan, 26, of Pottsville, driving a Jeep Compass, was turning from Peach Mountain Road onto Wade Road while Rebecca M. Chapman, 41, of Pottsville, driving a Toyota Corolla, was stopped for a stop sign traveling westbound on Wade Road. As Brennan turned her vehicle struck Chapman’s vehicle, police said. No injuries were reported and the Corolla had to be towed.

Brennan was cited for the crash.

• A crash was reported at Aug. 16 along Route 895 in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Paulius M. Mosinskis, 51, of Quakertown, was driving a Honda Ridgeline westbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. The vehicle struck the deer.

Mosinskis and his passenger, a 17-year-old woman from Quakertown, were not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.

• A two-vehicle crash happened Aug. 5 at the intersection of Route 209 and Main Street, in Porter Township.

Troopers said Donald W. Schneck, 82, of Pine Grove, driving a Ford Fusion, came to the intersection, failed to stop for a posted stop sign and drove directly into the path of a Volvo S60 driven by Jolynne Fenstermacher, 66, of Tower City.

Schneck had a minor injury but did not require medical attention. Fenstermacher was not injured. Both vehicles sustained heavy front end damages and were towed, police said.

Schneck was cited for a stop sign violation.
