The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting submissions for its “For the Love of Tamaqua” photo contest.
“We are looking for any and all photos - pics of events that took place, architecture, agriculture, kids playing, trains passing, leaves changing - anything that makes us ‘love’ Tamaqua,” explained Aimee Dotson, the chamber’s outreach and office administrator.
Photos will be accepted digitally through Sept. 1, and prizes will be awarded to winners.
Dotson said it is the first time for the contest.
“I was scrolling Facebook and admiring some really great pics that our community posts and thought some could be in a contest, so the chamber should have a contest,” she explained.
The contest is open to all ages, and photos must be snapped within the boundaries of the Tamaqua Area School District.
In an announcement, the chamber notes it is looking for “sights and scenes that make us think of and love Tamaqua, from architecture to agriculture; streams to sunsets; still life to community events; trains to landmarks, and wildlife to daily life.”
The grand prize winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card, two tickets to the chamber’s annual dinner and have their photo featured on the cover of the chamber’s annual progress book. Second place wins $50 and third receives $25.
Photos must have been taken after Sept. 1, 2021, and must be sent to chamber@tamaqua.net. Photos must be accompanied by a completed application that can be found on the chamber’s Facebook page.
