East Penn Township supervisors
The East Penn Board of Supervisors conducted the following business this week:
• Churchill Road was paved, gates were installed at the boat launch and painting of lines on the roads began but the township ran out of paint.
• Ashfield Road will be closed to through traffic as the road is deteriorating.
• EMS staff will be attending necessary training in Potter County on Aug. 9 and 10.
• A bid of $70,054 by Commercial Flooring Professionals was approved for new flooring in the township building. A motion was passed to get prices on insulating the north wall.
• The township has reviewed Penn Forest Township’s short-term rental ordinance and will adapt parts of it.
• A budget and several documents for a bike trail grant for the D&L Trail needs to be submitted. A motion passed to apply for an Local Share Account grant for recreation, which is a matching grant, and will be used in part to update the park’s bathroom.
• Low-income household water assistance, through the Department of Human Services, will be available for those meeting 150% of poverty guidelines. This is available to pay arrears due to COVID with a $2,500 maximum.
• American Rescue Plan Funds in the amount of $148,468.11 will be deposited into the general fund. A decision will be made on how these funds will be spent.
• On Nov. 6, part of Riverview Road from the bathroom to the dog park will be closed as there will be a half marathon on the D&L Trail. There was discussion of changing the ordinance regarding electric bikes being used on the trail as they have been going too fast.
• The next meeting of the board of supervisors will be held on Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
