Weissport Borough Council is looking into making some changes to the rental fees to use the borough park. Currently it’s a flat fee per event, plus a $100 deposit.

“I think the deposit should stay because if they don’t clean up, they lose that deposit,” Councilman Tom Ketchledge suggested. “But I think we should charge per day rather than a flat fee per event.”

The proposed fee would be $100 per day, plus a $100 deposit. If the park is cleaned up and nothing broken, the $100 deposit would be returned. The $100/day fee would include water and electric.

“We should aim to start this in 2023, because we already have people who have booked the park this year.”

The park has become popular for events like Rockin’ Rescue, Weisstock, Movies in the Park, yard sales and more.

In related news, the Weissport Event Committee will hold a Community Wide Yard Sale on Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Weissport Borough Park.

The cost to rent a 10-by-10-foot spot is $10 if paid in advance or $12 if paid the day of the sale. Multi-spot requests must be paid in advance. Participants must provide their own tables and take all unsold items home.
