Residents reminded to keep grass cut

Nesquehoning officials are asking residents to please cut your grass.

With the summer and grass cutting in full swing, Councilman Louis Paul said that complaints have also been on the rise about people letting their lawns get overgrown.

So far, there have been 19 notice of violations filed

“I’m asking property owners, cut your grass,” Paul said, saying it seems to be the same people all the time.

Because of this, the borough is going to look at what could be done regarding these violations.

RoniSue Ahner, borough secretary, added that weeds and grass in curbing also need to be cut and maintained by the residents.

“We can’t stress enough that we are doing everything we can for the people in this town to clean it up, the buildings, grass, any kind of improvements so we aren’t going to tolerate delinquent grass, period,” Paul said.

In other matters, Paul said the borough has received the notice to proceed with the street improvements along a portion of Diaz Avenue, from Angelini to Messina, in the New Columbus section.

He said that while he doesn’t know when the contractor will begin, it should be within the next few weeks.
