June 23, 2012 - Pleasant Valley’s Diane Klapatch is named the Times News Softball Player of the Year. The senior was a force at the plate, and also contributed in the circle to help the Bears post a 17-6 record and earn a Mountain Valley Conference championship. Klapatch batted a team-high .425 and also led PV in hits (34) and home runs (6). She collected eight doubles and knocked in 28 runs. As part of the team’s three-pitcher rotation, she pitched in seven games and had a 5-1 record.
