CCTI Joint Operating Committee

The members of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute’s Joint Operating Committee passed a number of measures at their June meeting.

• Jeffrey Deutsch was reelected as the CCTI Joint Operating Committee’s Treasurer for another term, beginning July 1, and ending June 30, 2023.

• Robert T. Yurchak was approved as the Joint Operating Committee solicitor for the 2022-2023 fiscal year at a retainer of $7,000 and $100 per hour for extra work done.

• Retained Angelique Yaich as instructor for the Carbon Alternative High School Diploma Program for 32 hours per week, 200 days, AM and PM Class Sessions, with benefits, at the rate of $34 per hour. Yaich will contribute $95 per month toward health care expenses.

• Teacher mentors at a rate of $750: Michele Klock for Tammy Marshall (2021-2022 school year); Michele Klock for Maritza Reinbold (2021-2022 school year); Harold Resh for Kenneth Reiter (2021-2022 school year); Michael Wildoner for Adam Reichard (Aug. 23, 2021-Jan. 13, 2022) and Maya Kowalcyk (Jan. 14, 2022-June 6, 2022.

• Approved substitutes: William (Greg) Arnold, Van/Bus driver, SHINE driver, through August; Salvatore LoPresti, custodial/Maintenance/Groundskeeper/Cleaner, van/Bus driver, SHINE driver, through August.

• Approved the following, effective July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023: Delmar Griggs, Joseph Pavlis and Tonia Schaeffer, Adult Education GED Instructor at $22.50 per hour; Donna Valent, Adult Education GED Aide at $15 per hour; Deborah Enterline, GED Examiner at $20 per hour.

• Julian Valentini as an Instructional Aide at a Step 1 salary per the current CCTI ESPA Employment Agreement, and that he be employed for up to two additional days at the individual’s per diem rate, prior to Aug. 20:

• Ashleigh Rehrig an Instructional Aide Mentor for the 2022-2023 school year at the approved stipend of $500.

• Approved operating a GED testing program for the 2022-2023 school year at the CCTI school site.

• Will continue duties as an Operator Consortium member of PA CareerLink Carbon County.

• Renewed agreement between the Carbon Career & Technical Institute Medical and Health Assistant/Certified Nurse Aide Program for the 2022-2023 Fiscal Year, with Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton; Office of Dr. Jayendra Patel, Jim Thorpe; Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly; The Village at Palmerton, Palmerton; Guardian Eldercare DBA Weatherwood Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, and Maple Shade Meadows Senior Living, Nesquehoning.

• Renewed Agreement of Affiliation between the Carbon Career & Technical Institute Adult Education Department PA-Approved Certified Nurse Aide Training Program with Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton, and Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.

• Granted permission to the CLIU 21 for use of a designated instructional areas to operate Life Skills Support Classes at the CCTI facility for the 2022-2023 school year.

• Approved contract with Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 to provide the complete Discovery Streaming Digital Video Library owned by Discovery Education Inc. for a period of one-year beginning July 1, at a cost not to exceed $1,550.
