Schuylkill County commissioners, at the behest of Commissioner Gary J. Hess, on Wednesday recognized those inducted into Coal Region Racing’s 2022 Hall of Fame.

They were inducted Sunday at a ceremony at the Island Park Complex, Schuylkill Haven. Each received a Hall of Fame plaque and a proclamation certificate issued by county commissioners.

In addition to drivers the inductees included announcers, track promoters and sportswriters.

They are Les Blankenhorn, Harold Brokhoff, John Deatrich, Eddie Dee, Charlie Eckert, Kenny Harris, Butch Kreiser, Gary Kreiser, Wayne Leitzel, Mark Light, Bill Lord, Frank Lunt, Doc Miller, Fred Rahmer, Edwin Renninger, Billy Schinkel, Dennis Somers, George Speck, George Stevenson Sr., Warren Thomas, Smokey Warren, Clyde Fuzz Watkins, Tom Wiley Jr., Nelson and Shirley Womer, and Irvin Yeich.

The racers compete in custom-made race cars on dirt tracks.
